Great news for all fans of electric vehicles and the goal to lower the emissions inside cities. German Car Company Audi is planning to go all electric by 2026.
This development reported by the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung was confirmed to The Spiegel. This means that Audi’s A3 and A4 will likely fade out and be replaced with electric versions. I wanted to mention that while they will likely stop releasing new combustion engine cars in 2026 they are expected to sell them till 2030.
Audi boss Markus Duesmann apparently already forged this plan at his inauguration a year ago. In March of this year Markus Duesmann announced to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung that he no longer wanted to develop new combustion engines.
In the interview he justified the decision with the EU plans for a stricter Euro 7 emissions standard. As we all know the European government is focusing on cutting emissions.
The last Audi combustion engine model will be launched in 2026. It is expected to be a Q model. According to the media reports Audi wants to sell this until the early thirties. We welcome this move by Audi and will keep you updated about their upcoming launches.
