Consulting firm Deloitte orders fleet of all-electric Mini Cooper SE

The auditing and consulting firm Deloitte has ordered 140 all-electric Mini Cooper SE. This is the largest order of electric Minis in Europe to date.

At Deloitte Belgium 25% of new employees opted for an electric company car since June, the firm reports. It ordered another 140 Mini Cooper SE from BMW to meet this demand.

The new cars complement 100 Mini EVs the company had already added to its fleet in Belgium last month, bringing the electric Mini fleet to 240. BMW points out that the “eye-catching” green rear-view mirrors in Deloitte colour are particularly popular with new employees.

The electric Mini Cooper SE are part of a total order of 540 new Minis. Deloitte Belgium adds that electric and hybrid vehicles accounted for 88 per cent of all company cars ordered since summer.

“This clearly shows that employees prefer sustainable alternatives to conventional cars with internal combustion engines,” concludes the statement to the press.

In addition to purchasing electric cars, Deloitte is also investing in its electric vehicle infrastructure. This is as part of its 2017-mobility plan that targets carbon-neutrality by 2030. The office in Belgian currently has 540 charging stations for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids.

“As our fleet accounts for 70% of our carbon footprint, every small and big step brings us closer to carbon neutrality,” said Piet Vandendriessche, CEO of Deloitte Belgium. “The fact that one in four new employees now chooses an electric car gives me full confidence that we are on the right track to make Deloitte a pioneer in sustainable mobility.”

The consultancy has been working on e-mobility topics, publishing white papers for some years. Apart from electrifying its own fleet, Deloitte Belgium also offers alternative transport packages.
