Ford is building more electric Mustang Mach-E than ICE Mustangs

Good news for everybody out there who is looking forward to see more electric vehicles on the road. It’s a tight race but Ford just released their latest production numbers and here are the results

Ford manufactured 27816 Mach-Es and 26089 gas powered Mustangs this year so far! Personally I am a big fan of the Mach e and If you would ask me I would probably pick it over the Tesla Model 3. If you haven’t checked it out yet then I highly recommend that you head over to your nearest Ford Showroom and check it out yourself. But back to the news. This is a clear sign that there is a good demand for electric vehicles now and the move from ICE to electric engines is moving ahead. For me as a fan of electric vehicles this is a great development

These are global production figures and not the final sales numbers but we can imagine that Ford has a pretty good understanding of the demand for the car. Ford is seeing strong Mach-E sales in other countries. Especially Norway which has long been a leader in EV sales thanks to strong government incentives.

Those incentives helped the Mach-E become the best-selling vehicle in Norway May, which was the first full month the EV was available there. The Mach-E sold 1384 units in Norway last month which is a great number for a smaller market such as Norway. Second and third place were held by plug-in vehicles as well, with the Toyota RAV4 hybrid and the Skoda Enyaq taking second and third place, respectively. For some reason Tesla was absent from the top 3.

In the US Ford sold 1945 Mustang Mach E and 4436 gas powered ones in May. For the first five months of 2020, Ford sold 10,510 Mach E and 29,710 normal Mustangs. Ford said the Mustang Mach-E “is essentially selling as soon as it hits dealer showrooms,” given the short, 10-day average turn time. I’ll make sure to check the nearest showroom myself. And maybe I will be a proud owner of the Mach E soon.
