US EV maker Rivian ( backed by Amazon and Ford among others) wants to sell its electric vehicles in Europe from the beginning of 2022. The company confirmed this in an email to a potential European customer.
Recently there were also rumours that the company was looking for a factory location. The United Kingdom, Hungary or Germany are being discussed as possible options. Recent Job advertisements such as a senior analyst for delivery planning in the EMEA region also confirm that Rivian has ambitions to launch in Europe.
According to earlier rumours, Rivian could initially only bring the R1S electric SUV to Europe. The larger R1T pickup truck is to be offered only in North America for the time being. Other Rumours point that the company is also planning to develop slightly smaller series with a focus on Europe and China. This is not confirmed yet
What is clear is that Rivian is planning to start deliveries of the Launch Edition of its R1T electric pickup in the US this month. In March, Rivian presented ambitious plans for its own charging networks in the USA and Canada. It is not yet known whether such charging networks are also planned for Europe.
We will keep you posted about the developments of Rivian in Europe
