Solaris scores orders for electric school buses in Poland

Solaris has been contracted with several orders for Urbino 12 electric school buses in Poland. A total of five municipalities have ordered the vehicles after receiving funding from a state subsidy program.

The municipalities of Pałecznica, Działoszyce, Krasnopol, Przedecz and Troszyn have received corresponding grants for the electric bus purchases. These grants were awarded by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) as part of the second edition of the ‘Kangaroo – Safe and Environmentally Friendly Way to School’ programme.

Solaris was awarded the contract in the subsequent tenders. More contracts could follow since grants have been awarded to 16 municipalities in total through the program but not all of these have launched their tenders yet.

The vehicles are designed for 41 young passengers. Depending on the order, batteries between 260 and 350 kWh will be installed to meet the respective requirements. The electric school buses are charged via mobile 40 kW chargers, which were part of all of the above-mentioned orders.
