Volkswagen has released the pricing for the ID.4 AWD Pro in the US. The electric SUV is starting at $US43,675 making it now the most affordable electric SUV on the American market.
It’s a smart move by Volkswagen which is competing with the Tesla Model Y. Volkswagen is going on the attack with the very affordable pricing. We assume that a lot of american customers will consider the ID.4 AWD PRO SUV as alternative to the Tesla Y
“We’re committed to making EVs the default choice for Americans,” said Volkswagen of America boss Scott Keogh in a statement on the pricing.
Some more great news for American Customers: Customers are eligible for the full US federal EV tax rebate of $US7,500 which will bring down the net price to just $US36,175.
“The new Volkswagen ID.4 AWD electric SUV revealed today will offer Americans yet another reason to embrace sustainable driving. With two electric motors, max 295 horsepower and an estimated 0-60 mph time of 5.7 seconds for the AWD Pro model, the ID.4 AWD offers performance and all-weather traction at a starting MSRP that no other all-wheel-drive electric vehicle for sale in the U.S. can beat.”
Specifications for the ID.4 AWD Pro include a maximum 295 horsepower. The car is expected to start selling at the end of 2021.
That’s twice the power of the rear-wheel-drive ID.4 Pro and a good 50% higher than the Tesla Model Y Long Range’s 201kW.
The SUV will have dual motors which are set up to split the work between them.
“The all-wheel-drive ID.4 merges the utility and zero-emissions driving delivered by the rear-wheel-drive vehicle with the performance from our sporty vehicles,” said Keogh.
We are looking forward to seeing the electric Volkswagen SUV on the roads in the United States soon
