300,000km Battery Warranty Now Offered by Foton for Its Electric Trucks

The Australian division of Chinese company Foton Global has unveiled an 8-year or 300,000-kilometer battery warranty for its new Foton T5 EV electric truck. Foton Mobility Distribution, the distributor in Australia, offers a range of green heavy-duty vehicles, including battery-electric and hydrogen fuel-cell trucks and buses.

The Foton T5 EV, a 4.5-ton light-duty electric truck, is equipped with an 82 kWh CATL battery. It has a power output of 64 kWh, peaking at 115 kW, and can generate a maximum torque of 300 Nm.

When fully loaded, the truck can travel up to 180 kilometers and comes with a comprehensive set of safety features.

On top of the generous battery warranty, the truck also comes with a 5-year or 200,000-kilometer general vehicle warranty.

According to the General Manager of light-duty vehicles at Foton Mobility Distribution, Bill Gillespie, the warranty offer surpasses any other in the Australian electric vehicle market.

Foton has a strong global presence in the alternative fuels sector, producing over 22,000 units last year. Backed by this expertise, the company aims to assure customers of the quality and affordability of their electric trucks.

Woolworths, which is a major Australian supermarket chain, has already placed an order for 25 Foton T5 EV trucks as part of its move toward greener delivery options. The T5 truck is versatile, offering a towing capacity of 3,500 kg and multiple configurations like refrigeration and tipper trucks.

Licensed drivers can choose between a 4,500 kg or 6,000 kg total carrying capacity.

Charging the truck is convenient, too. DC fast charging can fully recharge the battery in just 1.5 hours, while a standard 11 kW AC charger will take around 7.2 hours. Moreover, Foton provides 24/7 roadside assistance through NTI Truck Assist and has a widespread dealer network across Australia, from Cairns to Perth.
