German rental car service Sixt just announced the addition of green options to the Sixt Ride Rental business. Customers booking transfer or limousine services may now choose a hybrid or fully electric vehicle in selected European cities.
In Germany the first cities offering the low emission options will be Berlin, Dresden and Munich in Germany. The service is also available in other European Cities and we expect it to be rolled out everywhere at one point.
Other European Cities that offer the service already are: Paris, Essonne, Seine-et-Marne, Vexin and Yvelines in France; London, Crawley, Edinburgh, Farnborough, Gatwick, Glasgow, Guildford, Heathrow, Luton, Oxford and Reading in the UK; Milan in Italy; Amsterdam in the Netherlands; Stockholm in Sweden; Zurich in Switzerland; Barcelona in Spain and Istanbul in Turkey can book the new service via the app or online.
Melanie Wand, Executive Director Sixt ride Operations, pointed out “a rise in demand for electromobility in the market” has led Sixt to include hybrid and electric vehicles.
In the overall business, Sixt claims around a third of the car-sharing fleet consist of electric vehicles, including e-scooters and e-mopeds. The latest integration of electrified vehicles into the ride-hailing service takes Sixt one step further into becoming an all-around mobility provider.
